Rumours are continuing to circulate that Facebook has partnered with HTC to release its own smartphone as soon as mid-2013. The report citing people with knowledge of the matter has said that Facebook is also developing a modified operating system for the device and has assembled former Apple staff to improve its iPhone application.

According to the report, more than 50 percent of Facebook’ s 900 million users across the network access the site via mobile devices. Therefore, the Facebook through its new smartphone may cash in on to attract investors and advertisers.

Although Facebook did not comment on the report, its representative Ana Brekalo told CNET, “Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social.”
