Hold your breath: The hottest phones you can’t buy yet
News from ABC NEWS 4:

We don’t report every leaked shot of every rumored handset — there are blogs for that — but we try to keep you informed about what’s out there and what’s coming up. Lately, we’ve been hearing a number of new rumors and leaks. Below is a list of the major smartphones we’re expecting to see companies like Apple, Samsung, Sony, Nokia, HTC, and Motorola unveil this fall.

Sony Xperia SL

This phone has been confirmed by Sony via a new page on Sonymobile.com. The Sony Xperia SL is essentially an Xperia S with a couple choice enhancements. The SL will have a 1.7GHz dual-core processor instead of the 1.5GHz dual-core chip in the S and will run the “latest version” of Android — though we’re not sure if that means Android 4.0 (ICS) or 4.1 (Jelly Bean). We’ve asked Sony, but have not yet heard back. No pricing or availability info is yet known. Keep an eye out for this one.

HTC plans to replace the One V with the Proto
News from Technology Bloom News:

The last series of phones that HTC released was the One series back in February of this year.  According to reports from online sources, a new smartphone is about to be announced by HTC and it has a code name of Proto.  The Proto is reportedly going to be an entry level Android powered handset and some even think it is going to replace the One V.  This would be very interesting since the HTC One series has been quite popular and was just released a couple of months ago.  Although the One V is part of that series, it is the lower end handset of the group that includes the One X and One S.

The specs for the mystery handset include a 4-inch, WVGA touch screen display that sports a pixel resolution of 800×480.  The phone packs a 5MP camera on the back side with a 1GHz, dual-core Snapdragon processor on the inside of a 9.2mm thick handset.  More or less it sounds like the HTC One V with a couple of improvements.  HTC is likely to announce the new handset at the IFA 2012 show this week, but they could be putting a different name to it by then.
