HTC sells back part of its stake to Beats Audio

LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — Taiwanese cell-phone maker HTC Corp. (TW:2498) is selling back part of its stake in sound gear maker Beats Audio, HTC said on its website Sunday. HTC’s U.S. unit will sell half the stake it had in Beats, which had been slightly more than 50% of the company, now giving Beats a 75% stake in its own firm and a controlling interest. HTC paid $ 300 million for its half share of the company a year ago, but has been beset by revenue issues. The companies say they plan to continue their partnership.
